3rd Trimester

DH has lost his mind: Group trip to Cabo 4 weeks post-partum?

I am shaking my head. Last year, a group of friends went to Cabo for a week of drinking and mayhem. We'd just bought a house, so we declined.

The plans are now in the making for "Siestas and Fiestas Dos." They're looking at a week starting Labor Day Weekend.

If I go full term, I will be 4 weeks post partum. Regardless of how old the baby is, I'll be BF'ing. I'm also only getting paid for 1 1/2 weeks of my 8 week mat leave. Money will be a bit tight, to say the least.

We've had issues with being excluded from group activities over the past 6-8 months (maybe more, we just didn't know about it until everyone joined Facebook and we saw how much goes on that we're never told about), so I understand that he's happy to be included again. But jumpin jehozephatz, why on earth should we CHARGE a vacation, pay for my retired parents to come out to watch the kids, and have me pump-and-dump for a week???

I am so hoping DH is not serious on this one.

  • He is delusional. ?Sucks that the timing doesn't work, but there is no way.

  • I was actually on your DH's side, until you said charge it, and mentioned the maternity leave pay.  I am now on your side, and maybe you can make it to Siestas and Fiestas Tres next year.

  • I hope he's not serious either. I'm sorry, but a new baby is a bigger commitment than a new house, and if money will be tight that's just another reason. Plus, who the hell wants to put on tiny clothes (or a swimsuit) while in pp recovery??

Which means that if you go to 42 weeks, you could be TWO weeks pp.

It's a total bummer that the timing is so bad. It's also really lame that you've been excluded from so much lately. :(
