spina bifida b/w?

While I was at the OB's today, they drew some blood to test for spina bifida. I didn't think anything of it bc she said she does it with all of her pg patients.

Did you get this b/w done or have you heard of it being routine? Just wondering what your OBs do...

I had it done with my daughter and again this time. It was optional though.

My Dr. ordered it for me, I got the impression it was routine.

babs: I think so, but I can't really remember since I last did it 3 years ago and this time, I just did it today.

My doctor's office offers that as a part of a "quad screen".  They said it screens for Downs, spina bidida, neural tube defects and something else. I think I will get it at the next appointment because they said it had to be done between 15 and 18 weeks. They said it's pretty standard to have it done.

I had mine done on Weds. My OB recommends it to all his patients

I had mine done last week...it seemed like it was routine for me and they wanted me to go between 16 and 18 weeks.
