Baby Names

Your favorite Spanish name?

DH is American, I am Hispanic, and I would love for our child to have a first/ middle name that would remind him/her of their Spanish heritage...what is your favorite Spanish name for boy and girl? I ask because I know some are hard to pronounce and some are too common...Thanks for your feedback!

Re: Your favorite Spanish name?

  • I always liked Nina, Alejandra,  Estrella, and Dulce for a girl.   For a boy I like Carmelo.  GL!

  • My step-mother raised me and her family is Hispanic. Some of the names in her family are:

    Boys-

    Salvador

    Horacio

    Manuel

    Miguel

    Javier

    Carlos

    Alonzo

    Eduardo

    Juan

    Girls-

    Eva

    Ophelia

    Anna

    Isabel

Marga (I think this name is more Spanish than Hispanic)

Belen (with an accent mark on the last 'e')

Adela (they call her Addy for a NN)

    Nuria

    Malena

There are many more, but these are the ones that come to mind first. Let me know if you'd like me to come up with more! :)

    Paloma!

Paloma, Paloma, Paloma. This has always been my favorite girl's Spanish name. It also easily translates as far as how to pronounce it in English. I also like Pilar.

For boys, I love Joaquin and Javier.

  • Thanks ladies!

Those are great...I know girl's names are always easier to fall in love with (in any language) but boy's names are tough! I like Mauricio, Rodrigo  and Andres a lot but I know they are all hard to pronouce!

    Keep them coming!

  • I love Javier, Joaquin, Alejandro and Gustavo for boys.

For girls I like Carolina and Lorenza.

  • There are so many gorgeous Spanish names, apologies for any repeats...

  • I'm also married to a non-hispanic. If this babe is a boy, he'll be a Jr. but if it's a girl, she WILL have a Spanish name.

Fav boy names: Joaquin, Alejandro, Hiram, Josue, and my grandfather's name Fernando.

Girls: Carolina, Eva, Alejandra, Maritza and my mom's name Ileana.

  • I couldn't pick just one:

Arabela, Daniela, Elana, Esperanza (my niece's mn!), Gabriela, Juliana, Madelina, Jaime, Mariana, Selena, Sierra, Sofia, and Zamora

Alejandro, Cristofer, Dezi, Joaquin, Luis, Maximo, Francisco, Rafael, Rico, Salvador, and Zavier.

I like them because they have Spanish ties but are still easy to pronounce/semi-popular in America.
