I was all looking forward to having another peek at our DD at our growth u/s, but turns out my doctor's office doesn't do them unless there's an issue. Of course, I'm glad there have been no problems with my pregnancy, but I was really looking forward to that peek. (We haven't had an u/s since 19 weeks.) I'm also wondering how big she'll be, and if she's rotated correctly. (We know she's head down.)
What do you guys think? Anyone else's doctor have this policy?
Re: Growth u/s
It's completely normal to not have one. I only had one because I was measuring so large for dates. My doc's office won't do one unless you're either measuring small or large for dates.
Your doc can tell her position by palpating your bump, but even if she's posterior - she will probably turn during labor.
My LO has made a quarter turn in the past six weeks - he's moved from completely posterior to sideways... his back is along the right side of my uterus.
It sounds like your baby is measuring right on target, and her position is good, too. No need for another U/S.
It was excited to get an idea of his weight, but it really doesn't tell you much. For example, my DS measured 7lb 9oz today. It's slightly big (but not too big) for a 38 weeker... but the U/S tech said it could be off by up to a pound - so he could weigh anywhere between 6 9 and 8 9 right now! Then she told us that babies can gain as little as a half oz a day or as much as a pound a week. So, let's see... if born on/around 40 weeks, he could weigh anywhere between 7lb and 10lb 9oz? Jeez, that doesn't really give me an idea of what to expect...
