First, I feel like an A$$. I thought he was teething. Today his mouth was all full of sores, he stopped eating, barely drinks and is down right miserable. Anyone else have a DC with this? How long did it last? I am most concerned about the mouth since he is not eating. We are keeping track of hydration. Pedi is having us alternate motrin and tylenol for the pain.
Re: Hand, foot, mouth
I personally had it a few months ago. IT SUCKED. I was MISERABLE.
Be sure to stay up on the drugs with him.
I swore that if my kid ever had HFM that I would just want them sedated... (not really... lol)... but honestly... it sucked.

I went in and they had NO idea what it was... she put me on Valtrex (lol... I know...) and within a few days of starting that it was better... maybe 4 days total? (but only two of those were HORRIBLE...)

I've never experienced it, but a friend at work's son had it. he is 3. he was out for a week (out of daycare). there is no medicine for it according to the friend and google when I checked that. It is highly contagious. I want to say the doc told her about a mouth rinse (home remedy) but- like I said he is 3 so he was able to swish it around. Don't know if your's would know to do that?
I caught it when I worked in a daycare center while in college. It sucked and I was really sick. I had blisters on my hands and toes, which was kind of painful but mostly annoying, but then I had blisters all in my mouth and down my throat. Can they give him anything else? I don't remember what I was on but I was on something for my throat.
I was out of work for a week and in pain for about that long. No appetite and mostly miserable. I would watch his hydration because his throat probably really hurts.
