Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Should I wake my 3 week old to eat?

Or let him sleep? It's been over 3 hours.?

  • I wouldn't let him go past 4 hours.  You could also try dreamfeeding him!

  • There are soooo many theories to that situation but I have stuck with never wake a sleeping baby!  Seems to work for me...

Is he over his birth weight? If so, you can have one 5 hour stretch (unless pedi tells you other wise)

  • Yes, he is over his birth weight...?

At 3 weeks, I'd wake to feed. Maybe he'll eat and go right back to sleep!
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut
  • I woke baby up every 3 hours to eat b/w 6 am to 11pm/midnight.  Then, I didn't wake her at all at night -- she woke up on her own b/w 4 - 5 hours later.  She didn't starve --- it was the best thing b/c it helped her learn the different b/w night and day.  I always followed the rule of wake a sleeping baby during the day to eat and not too nap too long so they don't confuse night and day....and leaver them to be at night.
