Discharge....when do you exoerience it?

I've been told by a lot of people that you know you're getting close to labor when you start to experience some heavy, gross discharge (which happens a few weeks before delivery)  I am due next week and haven't experienced any discharge.  Do you have to experience discharge before labor?  I plan on asking my Dr. but my appointment isn't until next week and I've done some searches, but haven't found solid answers.  Just wondering because if what everyone says is true, then I won't be having this baby for a few weeks!!!

I haven't had anything out of the ordinary. Is it possible they're referring to losing your mucus plug slowly?

I have had discharge the entire pregnancy. However, over the last week it has gotten to be more, and yesterday I started to lose my MP.  But even that means nothing.  It could still be "days or weeks" according to my OB. Many women aren't even aware of losing their MP.
