Just set up a job interview for Monday

It's at 10:15 am, about 40 minutes from my house. I have a hard time getting DD around and to daycare by 9:00, and that's without me making myself too presentable! Yikes!

I'm not too hopeful about getting the job, anyway. I put day shift availability on my application, and he asked if I was available for other shifts. I told him days were ideal during the week (any shift on weekends), due to DH's unpredictable employment hours and our child care situation. After that he sounded hesitant. Oh well....I can put my BSN to good work being a secretary or something.

I'm a new grad, so at this point, I'll take what I can get. Anything related to OB is my ultimate goal (hospital or office setting). Do you just LOVE L&D?

  • I do!! I work nights and started in L&D as a new grad. GL!! You shouldn't have a problem finding a job!!
  • I know how you feel. I have an education degree and I'm  a secretary. Hmmpp... oh well

I never dreamed I'd have trouble finding a job as a nurse. That's part of the reason I went to nursing school. The town I live in has 2 hospitals, both of which have all the nurses they can afford right now (but not nearly enough in a perfect world). I interviewed at a nursing home/retirement community, but they can't hire me until I take Boards (I'm still waiting on my authorization to test form). I think I'm going to call the county health dept and some of the walk-in clinics around here. Would you recommend that, or should I just walk in with my resume?

I'm dying to go back to work. We really need the second income, because DH is working himself ragged right now.

I'm sorry! It sucks, huh? I have a friend who is looking for a teaching position with no luck. Until then, he's working at Lowes. One of the hospitals here has 2 secretary positions open, so I may apply for those, at least to get my foot in the door at a hospital. Good luck finding a teaching position (if you're still looking)!
