3rd Trimester

What will you have LO wear in the hospital?

Just curious...Will you have the baby in clothes that you bring while you are staying in the hospital or will you just opt to keep them in the shirt/onesie that the hospital provides?

  • I say let the hospital be on laundry duty while we're there!  I'll just change the baby right before we leave
  • Loading the player...
  • Hospital shirts & a diaper--the cord hasn't fallen off yet & I don't intend to put a onsie on it until we are leaving.

  • The hospital supplies everything until we leave, so I'm using it! And I'm taking whatever isn't nailed down :)

  • Definitely the t-shirt and swaddling blanket that the hospital provides!!!

We were told that if we want to put our own clothes on the baby that we should expect to lose them.  Apparently they frequently get taken off and thrown in the hospital laundry, then they're just lost forever.

  • probably just the hospital shirt

  • We will just have her wear the hospital shirts.

I hadn't thought about this before but I would have to agree with this.

  • Hospital clothes.  No need to create more laundry for myself - there will be plenty of that in the future.

  • Onsie/sleep sack provided by the hospital while we were there - went home in her official 'going home' outfit...which lasted about 5 minutes after we walked in the door since she spit up all over it! :)

  • crap! can you not use onesies until after the cord remains fall off? makes sense i just never thought about it.

ditto pps we'll let them dress her until we take her home!

  • probably just some tees if I can find some. The hospital provides some meshy type of thing they call a tee, I can't stand it, so I'm bringing just some shirts. Thanks for reminding me, I need to pick some up next time I'm out.

i dont see a reason to lug extra crap to the hospital when they can provide it!  i am off duty and going to take advantage of that!
  • What the hospital provides.  And let me just say that working in a hospital, you don't want to bring in more things than you really need.  It can get lost or stolen, and you'll just have to keep track of everything you brought.
  • I kept them in the hospital stuff.  They all swallowed a ton of stuff on the way out and puked up awful brown stuff.  My littlest one puked up straight blood for the 1st night.

I'm happy I didn't have her in anything I bought because it would have been ruined.  Same with blankets.

Agreed.  The only time I will change her is for hospital pictures!

  • with our first, we kept her in the hospital clothes.  But looking back, they are these awful pants/shirt things that are a real pain.  I'm taking a couple of sleep gowns this time and plan on putting lo in that unless he/she happens to be a big spitter or something.  We had no laundry issues with dd that early...
  • After having gone through this once, I would say stick with the hospital. First off you have the belly button issue, so you can't put pants on them and on top of that, you change diapers so much AND they check the baby to do stats etc it seems pointless to put them in anything special. There is something sweet about the white hospital tops and the moses blankets they wrap them in. We stole a few :) Those hospital tops are so great we asked for extras, they have the cuffed over hands and soft/wide necks.
  • I'll use whatever the hospital provides and bring an outfit to go home in.

I just kept DD in the shirt and swaddling the hospital provided.  I was too busy trying to get the hang of nursing, fighting nausea from the pp hormones and the sheer exhaustion, not to mention the swelling and discomfort from childbirth to worry about my kid being some sort of fashionista.  I figure I'll go the same route with this one.

  • DS stayed in the onesies provided by the hospital and that worked well. We'll change the baby before we leave.
  • whatever the hospital provides for babies to wear. I will change his clothes for pictures and when we are getting ready to leave.
  • What the hospital provides.
