I'm sure this has been asked before but I'm interested in the idea of Hypno Birthing. Does anyone have any additional informion on this - or know where to purchase Hypno Birthing materials?
You can buy the book (which comes with a CD) from Barnes & Noble. At first I was just going to study it by myself but I decided to take a class (haven't started yet, but I've started reading the book and have listened to the CD) - I used google to find classes in my area but the Hypnobirthing website also has a practitioner directory.
i'm reading a book lent by my OB- called "hypnobirthing- the Mongan method" by Marie Mongan.?
?comes with a CD. haven't gotten very far, but i guess the basic premise is that the fear of pain CAUSES pain- by releasing adrenaline, initiating fight or flight response, etc. It says that natural, drug-free pain free birth is possible through the use of relaxation techniques that help you not to fear the pain.?
like i said, haven't gotten very far. I went natural with #1 (had a shot of demerol, but no epi), and it HURT. but i'm still committed to trying again with this baby, as it really does disappear as soon as you're holding your perfect baby.
I LOVE the Hypnobabies home study course so far. ?You can get it at the hypnobabies site posted above and sometimes for cheaper on ebay, but the money was totally worth it. ? It has relaxed me throughout my pregnancy, so I am hoping it does the same during labor.
It is a 5 week course, so leave some time to do it.?
Good information. I didnt know they had this at Barnes & Nobles. I told DH that I wanted to try it, but really didnt have time for the course. I'll have to visit there today and see if I can find it.
You can buy a book & cd on Hypnobirthing, this will just provide the tools to use hypnosis through childbirth via the book and scripts you listen to. It is relatively inexpensive.
There is also Hypnobabies. This will provide the tools to use hypnosis through text and cds as well as provide a ton of other information regarding birth, nutrition, interventions and many other things along the lines of a Bradley class. Hypnobabies is a 5 week course that can be done either in person with an instructor or through a homestudy. It is much more expensive, but keep in mind it is a full course and the price is similar to a Bradley course.
If you have already had a baby or another series of childbirth classes I suggest Hypnobirthing. If not, then I suggest Hypnobabies.
I'm doing the Hypnobabies home study course and LOVE it. I not only feel prepared and excited for childbirth but I feel like my pregnancy has gotten easier too. I have a better attitude and feel less stressed overall. I highly recommend!
Also, took a basic childbirth class at my hospital and told the nurse teaching that I was doing Hypnobabies. She said that the most amazing birth she'd ever witnessed was a woman doing hypnosis for childbirth - she gave it 2 thumbs up too!
