f/u 1 yr vaccines

thanks for all your input.  i think we might delay. i have some concerns about her getting rubella vac while i'm pg.  i've read pg women are vulnerable to passing on birth defects if they catch rubella.  so i'll ask pedi if that's even possible w/ a live virus vac.

but also dd woke w/ runny nose, low fever and on a crying jag.  teeth!  so better not to add to her misery.  thanks again, ladies!

Re: f/u 1 yr vaccines

  • Hey cali!  I just responded to you below.  Actually, you don't need to worry about rubella (or anything else in the MMR).  There have only been, like maybe 2, cases of this happening AND it was after the mom just received the rubella vaccine after giving birth and breastfed her newborn (so the baby was getting tons and tons of the vaccine via the milk).  The only one to be wary of is chickenpox.

But--I would wait since lu isn't feeling good!  There is no harm in waiting a bit--but you don't need to wait on this one until after the baby's born.

  • omg, music, i am so glad you saw this before i left for the appt!  i was totally hoping to get your insight :)

we're abut to walk out now, but i will bring all of this up with the dr.  i think they gave me a rubella vac right after i delivered.  unfortunately i was in such a daze and they came in w/ a big deal and said, you need this, sign here!  and i did without thinking.  so i'm not even 100% sure what it was.  although i remember thinking, i just pushed a baby out and now you give me a shot?  that seems unfair...

anyway, i'll let you know what happens at her appt.  hopefully you'll be around :)

  • lol, cali--we always tend to freak each other out!  So since you had the shot (and lu is perfect) you see how hard it would be to pass the virus:o)

Please, please post after your appt. and tell me what your doc says (specifically the chickenpox vaccine).  I am really curious since I have seen a couple posts on here about this!!
