We're looking into sharing a nanny w/ a couple that I met in our neighborhood. It's a nanny they've already hired and are using.
What kind of issues/questions should I be aware of when sharing a nanny w/ another family? one thing I'm already aware of- the nanny will need a double stroller. How do we handle it - split it, one family buys it, or... what?
So- issues like shared expenses is something I know we need to cover. What other kinds of things should we cover?
Thanks!
Re: XP: Anyone share a nanny?
I would ask:
- How do we handle sick days?
- How do we handle vacations?
- Who's house do they stay at?
- How will you handle communication with the nanny? Together or separately?
- Are each family?s priorities the same? TV no TV, outside time, extra classes, etc.
The nanny share posts on my blog cover some more things you might want to think through:

I have not shared a nanny but have been a shared nanny and the number one thing I will say is that communication from BOTH families is key. Expectations need to be set forth from the beginning. Whose house will you be at? What if that child is sick? Are you taking care of taxes? If so are you paying one check to her or each your own? Will whoever's house you will be at be the people responsible for food for the kids and the nanny or will food be transported on a daily basis? If the nanny is sick, who does she call? Are both families responsible for their own back up care?
If you want to talk fruther feel free to email.....There are more things to consider and there are definitely pros and cons for all parties.
Email me if you want! This is my first time on this board....I didn't know there was one for working moms!
