Babies: 0 - 3 Months

she slept...

...from 9 PM to 5 AM.  I can't even believe it!  Since following a few simple pieces of advice from "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child," her sleep has improved so much.  All I've done is stopped waking her from naps, tried to put her down for a nap when she starts to seem tired, stopped taking her on errands all day long (though we still go out occasionally), and started putting her to bed for the night earlier, with a simple routine (change, music, nurse).  Next step: transitioning to crib.  I'm going to start by putting her bassinet in her room for a few nights and see how that goes...  I highly recommend this book to anyone!

Re: she slept...

  • I thought this book was pretty helpful too.  The putting her down for a nap piece was the most helpful.  I was interpreting her tired cues for hungry cues.  Hope you can see a repeat tonight!

  • Tommy -- I was also thinking tired cues were hungry cues!  She started spitting up more, which made me think that maybe I was overfeeding her (she'll never refuse the boob, so it's hard to know when she's full!).  I'm starting to be able to tell the difference now.  I've also realized that babies this age just sleep a ton!  But she's so happy when she is awake that it's worth it!
