Max - Too Popular?

What do you think of Max for a boy?  Is this too popular right now?  I really love the name Ari, but my husband seems to be resisting.

Re: Max - Too Popular?

  • I like Max. We briefly considered it. It's not popular to me- I don't know any. But of course it all depends on your area.
  • It's popular with celebrities- Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Lopez both chose that name for their sons. I haven't heard it too much in real life though so I don't think it's too popular. I like it- it's short, to the point, and could work for a baby and an adult.

  • I like it...and I definitely like it better than Ari.

I don't think it's too popular at all. Sure, it's made a little surge recently, but I would never consider it "common."

  • Not too popular a name for little boys, but a super popular name for dogs in my area anywhere.  There are several canine Max's in my neighborhood.  So, at least people like it.

  • I think Max is fairly common, but not overly popular. Have you checked your state's SSA list? Fwiw, I love Max and I hate Ari.

  • I like Max, but not Maximillian or Maximus.  I like Ari, too.

    This.

  • I like Max. There are no Max's that I know or have heard of where I live.

I like Max, but I do think it's very popular. It comes up here often as names people are considering. I'm not sure if they choose them though.?
  • Max is my son's name. So far, I know of a few other Max's sort of around his age in our area (Missouri), but nothing crazy.

I love the name (obviously) but if you decide it's too common, I do know another girl who was considering Max and used Sam, Leo and Gus instead. (she has three boys, not triplets). Those are all short, cute boy names that you might like as an alternative.

  • I like Ari better. I think Max is pretty popular, like Jack. All good names though.
  • It's definitely popular but not ridiculously so.  I don't think they'll be several in a class or anything like that.  It's a nice name and Ari is too.
