Back up your baby photos! Learn from me...

My laptop died about a month ago. H took it apart and tried to figure out what was wrong with it. After doing some research on the web, he found that my model was part of a service recall from HP for the exact problem I was having. So, after talking with HP, they sent us a box to send back to them, they will reset it to factory settings and fix the issue for free. I was relieved not to have to buy a new once since it was only 1.5 years old. But, all of Ava's baby pictures were on there! H borrowed something from a co-worker to retrieve all the stuff off the hard drive before we sent it in and attempted to get it all off last night - no luck. I sat here and cried last night sick knowing we would never get those pictures back. I found some relief to know that I went overboard printing pics for family members at shutterfly, so at least the really good pics from the last 4 months were there. Well, H took the hard drive into work for his co-worker to try and get everything off and IT WORKED!!! BACK UP YOUR BABY PHOTOS LADIES!!!

I am so freaking ecstatic right now!

I was so sad for you till the end of this post. So glad it worked out for you, I would have been devastated! I have major backup on all my pics. All of my pics are at photoworks.com, on cds, on the computer, and I haven't erased a single one off my camera yet...I have a large memory card.

I had a very similar thing happen just after DS was born, we moved all of our pictures to the computer and cleared the card so we could take more pictures, and two days later my computer stopped working.  I was so pissed.  Thankfully, we managed to recover just about everything since it was a windows error not an actual hard disk error.
