Lake Stevens child care?

I'm starting my childcare search in the morning.  Very un-fun...  don't expect to get many references from you girls, but its definitely worth a shot.  Anyone recommendations?

Much appreciated!

Re: Lake Stevens child care?

  • NancyDrew and AnnetteWalker use the same childcare in Lake Stevens.  I'm sure they'll chime in!

  • Hey Mrslove I live in Lake Stevens as well as a few others. Congrats on your little one.

We take Robbie to a in home day care called Above and Beyond it is in a neighborhood off of Lundeen Parkway. A husband and wife provide the child care they also do preschool for the older kids there. We are very happy with them and the care that Robbie gets. We pay $45.00 per day. Thier number is 425-346-8090.

A few weeks ago we thought we might have to switch because they said they were going to close the 1st Monday of each month but then they changed that and are open every day.

But I did look at another place a center that is new and close to downtown Lake Stevens near the 4 way stop. I don't remember the name of it but we drove by and it looked nice.

When I was looking last year I actually looked at Country Dawn as well. I liked it there and almost took him there but it was more expensive and a bit further away from our home.

Let me know if you have any questions.

  • I started calling all the places in the Lake Stevens Journal that had ads in teh childcare section.  None were taking infants.  One lady refered me to call the VOA in Everett.  They have a childcare referral person.  You give them your address (home or work) and they can look up all liscensed  providers within a certain proximity that you give them.  They will send you the list.

When I got tht list, I started calling.  Lots are not really childcare places, people are just liscensed. Lots didn't call me back too.  I went and looked at COuntry Dawn and Kids N Us.  I liked Kids N Us had the bbies in their own cribs.  I got on a waiting list, but you know, I NEVER got a call back from them in the past 1.5 years.  I did get on the list at Country Dawn, but I didn't want to switch at tht point.

I remembered on our evening walks that on the next block, there was a house that had french doors wher the garage should have been with "Child care" written in the windows.  I drove up and knocked and there it began.  ;)

LIke Annette said, it's a husband and wife team, and it's at their house, but not a part of their house.  They never had couched or a TV until this past year.  (I loved that it didn't have these, more preschool like)  I don't "think" they have the TV on ever.... as lest I've never seen it except maybe after 5pm when their son plays Wii.  But most of the kids are gone then.

Audrey LOVES "school" loves Kim and Jason (the teachers).  SHe was the youngest for a long time, but now there are more babies.  SHe was also the only girl for a long time too.  She got very spoiled.  :)

I will be having Audrey go only part time when the baby comes, then have both kids go full time at the 1st of the year. (Yikes in writing THAT check!)  I know Kim said she has people wanting to come in and to let her know of my plans for Audrey.  I don't want to pull her out completely while I'm off though.

Let me know if you have any ?'s!
