Said to me by my 4 y/o tonight after a battle over bedtime.  I don't know where she heard it and I'm doing my best to not take it personally, but wow, it sucked hearing that.

Ouch. Yes, that hurts.  It will pass though, and you know it's not true! Try not to take it personally! Easier said than done, I know........

Awww    My 4-year-old has been developing an attitude lately too. When I won't let her do something she wants to do, her new thing is saying to me, "You're not being nice!" and "You're not my friend!" She also has this mean pout she gives me now. Ah, fun times!

I actually find statements like that amusing (yes, even when mine has said something similar!).  Honestly, you KNOW they really don't wish that.  They're just growing up & getting more independent & us parents really try to get in the way of that sometimes.  You have to take it with a grain of salt!

I know my DD will probably say that to me some day. I know they don't mean it or truely appreciate what you do for them.  But what do you say to that?

My (almost) 4 yr old also will tell me to "leave me alone" and "I am not your friend" when she is mad at me. ??
