Remote controls, cat tails, Mommy's glasses, empty water bottles, the recyclable bin, the list goes on and on. lol

Seriously, though, at this age, exploration is the name of the game, more than sitting playing with toys.  So anything that encourages exploration is a good idea.  Too many toys will likely just get underfoot and not get played with.  Good idea: a wagon, outdoor toys, balls, books, a baby doll.

she got a bunch of leapfrog toys which she loves but they drive me crazy.

we got her some little people in a barn and a duplo dumptruck which she likes a lot too.  the chunky little people are great for her to grab.

Shape sorter, puzzles, stacking toys.  He loves his shape sorter and is getting really good at it.  Puzzles he likes to hide the pieces in strange places, but I like to get him used to these thinking type toys.
