I went to my Chiropractor/Kinesiologist today for an adjustment and he shared with me some info on stretch marks. He said when his wife was pregnant there was a cream on the market for stretch marks that cost $200 +. He was given a sample at a Natural Dr convention and he decided to find out why it was so special. Come to find out it was Emu oil. Yes from the Emu animal.
I went to the health food store today and got some Emu oil for $13. He said that it helps prevent stretch marks and to lighten up already existing ones. So I'm going to spread it all over. ( btw.. his wife never got any stretch marks) https://www.highcascadeemus.com/about_emu_oil.html
Re: Stretch Mark info. Didn't know this one.

interesting....I may have to check this out since I was allergic to Palmer's Belly Butter....
I'm still doomed for stretch marks, but hey, you never know!
Not to burst anyone's bubble, but whether or not you're going to get stretch marks is largely determined by genetics. (In other words, if your mother got them, you likely will too.)
That said, a lil more moisture never hurt anyone.
hey, if people want to rub large bird grease on their bellies, who are you to stop them!?
That made me LOL for real... I spit a mouthful of water all over my desk hehe.
I'm with Valerian on this one...and stretch marks occur deep in the layer of skin that isn't reached by any cremes or oils. I think the best way to avoid them is to gain weight as slowly as you can.
But emu oil is good for a lot, whether or not it is good for stretch marks. I have friends who raise emus and they know all-things-emu. I can't remember all the things they use oil for, but I know it has benefits.
Ditto
I did cocoa butter and... something else... I can't remember what! with my first pregnancy, and never got any though... and I do have them on my butt and boobs from other times, so I always think it is weird I never got them... I don't think the lotion had anything to do with it, probably just that I didn't get that big.
My doctor advised me to stay well hydrated to try to avoid stretch marks. Here's an interesting read:
