we are going to the beach for a week. We are renting a house, help me think of things I will need. This is our first major vacation with ds so I feel like I will forget something if I make the list on my own. TIA
lol. that would be my list if DS weren't coming, but now that I'm a mom I feel like I need to pack the whole house :P and if you can fit in the suitcase - you can come too.
In addition to my 3 answers it helps me to make a list of my routine and start checking things off but first make your list by categories.
1) Shower things (make up, face wash, shampoo...etc)
2) Clothing (I try to bring enough that to change twice a day but I usually end up wearing the same shorts all week long and just change my bikinis or tops and save the outfits for dinner or shopping) It also helps to pretend like I am picking my outfits. So I know that I will go to dinner probably 4 nights so I need at least 4 outfits for dinner. Or I know that I will go shopping 4 days so I need 4 outfits to go shopping in. Make sense?
4) Food. You said you were staying in a beach house so I assume you would be taking your own food. If you are driving I suggest you get a tub and fill it with items you already have to save money. Saran wrap, paper towels, dish towels, dish soap...etc. We did this last year and not only did we save money by not shopping at the local store where the prices were jacked I'm sure, we weren't wasteful and took those items back home with us after the vacation. I would also suggest taking coupons for any items that you would want to putchase there. Also, make a meal plan for the week and if you are staying with others, get them included and share the meals and expenses.
I tend to overpack for the baby even for a weekend at my moms so if it were us, I would probably take as much stuff as I could fit into our car to make it comfortable for the baby. PNP, blankets, toys, case of diapers, wipes, you know all the obvious things. I think making a list of everything you use on a daily basis would be helpful.
Thanks - we are driving and we're having ds's birthday party there too. We were already planning on bringing food, but didn't think of all the other stuff (saran wrap and such).

butting in here, but I had to tell you, I LOVE your siggy picture!
We are off to the beach in like 4 weeks (eek!) ... are you flying or driving? Make sure you take ample diapers/snacks/medicines/baby stuff ... I hate having to go out and buy things on vacation.
I'm taking a baby carrier, umbrella stroller, carseat, highchair that hooks onto a table (will fold up in suitcase). We are renting a crib there, but bringing our own bedding for him. Sunscreen. Beach cabana for him. Bathing suits. Hats. Sandles. Flashlight (to chase crabs on the beach at night). Snacks. We'll buy some cheap beach toys there.

Thank you!!
I also wanted to add to the OP that if you can get a list of the amenities they offer such as a dishwasher or washer and dryer it saves to take your own detergent and that way you would not have to pack as much stuff as you would need if you were in a hotel because you can wash clothes. We treated it as our house for the week so we took a giant tub of food and then another tub of house items (mostly kitchen) I would also add hand soap and toilet paper too since most houses don't supply those items and you would be left to buy that at a store.
Again, if you are going with other couples, make a list and split up the items that everyone would need to bring.
I live at the beach, and here's what I've taken with me (and actually used!) every day last week:
pop up tent
towel
cooler w/ bottle, sippy cup, snacks, water for me
my chair
sunscreen
bucket, shovel, beach toys
hat for baby
When we went to the Outer Banks for vacation last month, the house had pretty much everything we needed for DS - a crib, PNP, high chair, stroller - so we didn't need any of that. We just packed enough stuff for the drive and went grocery shopping the next morning - much easier!
Re: Help me make my list for the beach
1) A bathing suit
2) A toothbrush
3) Parks2Be
