Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Only klassy people shop at Walmart, yo.

So, I was doing my usual drive around til a spot is good enough routine (because it's hotter than a mother), and I got to an empty spot, and the family in front of me was getting out of their car. There were 5 adults, mom,  dad and 3 others, a brand new baby in the carseat in the cart, and a little boy. I guess he wasn't moving fast enough, so mom lifted him and, and basically THREW him in the cart. She made him land in such a way that he sat on one of his legs. So, he started crying, because DUH MOM, YOU HURT YOUR CHILD. So because he's crying, she SMACKS him in the mouth and told him to shut up. I went to get out of my car and say something, but that's obviously usual behavior for her, so once I'm not there, she's not going to care. I felt horrible for him :(

  • Doesn't it just make your heart ache when you see situations like that and are reminded of all the little kids out there who don't receive the care yours does?  It used to bother me before, but nowhere near how much it does now that I'm a mother and KNOW that I wouldn't treat my son that way.

  • Yuck, I hate that kind of stuff!  We were at a wedding this weekend and this idiot mom had her 1 year old there.  The wedding was until 9 pm so the baby was beyond her bedtime and when someone tried to take her from her mom the baby was swinging her arms, like please don't take me. So the mom hit her in the face with two fingers and said Don't hit people!  Okay idiot how is she going to learn not to HIT if you are hitting her in the face!  I had to walk away.
