Good family resorts in Cabo?

I need a vacation. ?Even just a long weekend. ?I want to play in the sand and sun with my boys, without having to deal with family or friends or anything. ?We've never gone anywhere just the 3 of us.?

Hawaii's too far away and too expensive, so I'm wondering if Cabo San Lucas would be just as nice and less pricey?

Anyone have any experience? ?Maybe been to both places and can tell me how they're alike and how they're different??

  • well, listen, just 'cause I want to go, doesn't mean I get to! LOL?

We went to the beach today and I wistfully said to DH, "let's go back to Hawaii". ?So I figure if I present him w/ Cabo and show him it's much less expensive, he'll be relieved and jump all over it! :-)?

  • Check out the Dreams resort in Cabo.  We've been to the one in Puerto Vallarta twice and loved it.

I've heard the Westin in Cabo is nice.  But, not the same as Hawaii.  I want to go to Maui or Kauai so bad.  I've heard Hawaii has some amazing deals right now though.
  • I went to Cabo on my honeymoon and loved it!!!!!!  The only drawback was the constant people wanting to talk up timeshares.  We couldn't even get a ride from the airport without agreeing to look at a timeshare.  Now that was 5 years ago so I don't know if it changed.

We stayed at the Villa del Palmar.  The resort was great and I do remember they had things for kids to do too.

  • We stayed in Cabo for part of our honeymoon. They weren't specifically "family resorts" but we enjoyed them (kids around didn't bother us!). We stayed at the Sheraton and then the Westin. Both were beautiful. We had a condo/suite at the Sheraton for 4 nights and a hotel room at the Westin for 2 nights. Both are right on the beach...but you'd be hard pressed to find a resort NOT on the beach in Cabo. Just keep in mind, the ocean isn't always very swimmable, due to bad currents. But the pools ON the beach make up for it. I say go for it! We are definitely bringing our kids back there in a few years.
  • We stayed here at the Hacienda Del Mar, but I wouldn't say that it's particularly child friendly.  There were kids there, but not a ton....it's not set up like Atlantis (VERY child friendly).  And it's not particularly cheap either.  Not sure how much you're looking to spend.  It was VERY nice though...nice room, nice beaches, good food, etc.  I'd go back.  BUT if I were going just DH and I, we'd go to Las Ventanas or The One and Only Palmilla.
