Wow, DH just told me a story...

He's friends with a local chevy dealer.  They just ordered one of the brand new Camaro's that came out - for a 16 year old boy.  Apparently he and his father had started looking at them back when the kid was 14.  His father told him if he saved up half the money he would put up the other half.

The boy started working at a dairy farm, mowing lawns, etc.  Basically worked his butt off and saved up his half.  Well, his dad passed away a bit ago.  His parents had been divorced, and his step-dad felt like after all the kid's hard work he shouldn't be deprived of this car, especially after his dad died.  So HE put up the other half.

I about started to cry.  I just have to ignore my feelings about a 16 year old having a Camaro...

  • oh, i love that the boy's mom married him...how sweet.
  • That's a really sweet story, but a 16 year old boy and a camaro - there is not very much of a view in those cars.  Ty's dad wants to give Ty his camaro when he starts driving, I told him absolutely not.  Hopefully this kid is a very responsible driver and gets all the practice driving he needs.  Ty, no camaro.

  • It's just a scary thought to me....I just want to add that.
  • What  a wonderful step dad!  I think that if that boy is that responsible to earn the money, he'll probably be responsible with the car too.
