Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Small family vent

I spend a long time on Sundays downloading, editing, and sending out pictures to our families.  We take photos all week long and it takes a while to go through them and edit and what-not.

Whenever I miss a week, I hear about it.  When Madeleine turned one, I suggested stopping and heard "don't you dare!"   It's not like I'm forcing these pictures on people.  They don't live close, so they enjoy seeing pics of Maddie on a regular basis.

So why is it that nobody responds?  I spend hours on this project and they can't take 10 seconds to say "thanks for the pics?"

I am feeling unappreciated.

  • its the small things in life we take for granted. we dont know how much we love it until it is gone. skip a week and they will probably wonder what happened to that lovely little girl...

but yeah, it sucks that the good things are taken for granted espically with all the hard work you put into it.

  • My FIL is the same way. He goes for 6 months without seeing ds (even though he's perfectly mobile and doesn't work). However, he raises_hell if I don't send out pics but he never once responds to an email. My parents ALWAYS respond as well as my brother and any of my friends I send them to.

  • My MIL does this, and it drives me nuts.  I suggest not sending one week, and when they complain, I'd say 'oh, I figured since I didn't hear back from anyone that no one needed them anymore'.  Hopefully they'd get the message (however, if they're like my MIL, they won't...she's socially stunted!).

I have tried this approach multiple times.  It works for maybe one or two weeks, then they stop responding again.
  • Start a blog. & encourage comments. Maybe if they see no one replying(or everyone else replying) it will encourage more input. Worked for me.

This is a good idea.  Thank you!

Ditto this. Make a blog and I think they're more likely to respond!

  • My ILs are the same way.  I send out pics of DD all the time and I usually hear back right away from my mom, stepdad, dad, and stepmom.  We never hear back from DH's parents.  We had also started a website, but no one checked it, so we gave up.
