Well, as far as "place names" go, I can think of worse. But I wouldn't actually use it either. And speaking of Italian place names, I've always liked Roma.
Well I guess I'm in the minority as I liked it alot. It's my DD's name. DH and I plan to take her there[Italy] for her sweet 16th. She loves her nn of "Capri Sun," she uses it on her team shirts all the time.
I like it. If we had honeymooned there (instead of one island over on Corsica) and if it didn't rhyme with our last name, it would be on our list.
This means you can use it and your daughter wouldn't be Capri A. sitting in class next to Capri C. with Capri M. a few rows back...unlike all of the Ella/Emma/Delaneys out there.

Re: Capri?
so "free and exotic"...because it IS! it's such a charming ISLAND.. not a girls name.
This was the first thing I thought of too.
Like the island? And the pants?
