What kind of room were you in? How was it with a toddler on a cruise? We have been on 3 cruises, so we know how they work, I just wonder about taking a toddler (he'd be 21 months at the time)

I haven't, but my only concern would be the sharing a room issue. I'd need a suite because my girls will not sleep if anyone is in the room with them, plus it has to be silent or they won't sleep, either. And that would get expensive! So, I have the feeling that we won't do one for a long time... but, if your DC will sleep with you in the room and with some noise, I'd go for it. A friend of mine just took her 1 yr old on a European cruise and they had a great time!
We took our son when he was 11 months old. Like pp. said, sleeping arrangements were the toughest part. We stayed in an interior room on a Royal Caribbean ship.?Surprisingly, it actually worked pretty well for us. (I was worried b/c my son is a very light sleeper)
They had a pack n play that they set up for us. We moved the bed over to one side and during the day set up the pack n play right next the bed, turned on a sound machine we brought, and pulled the curtain.
For nights we put him in front of the couch (plus sound machine and curtain). ?
Other than that, we had a blast. The only thing I would warn you about is almost every ship will not allow a child who is not completely potty-trained to swim in any of the pools. The exceptions to this (that i know of) are Disney ships and Royal?Caribbean's?Freedom Class ships. We were on Freedom of the Seas and they had a wonderful little baby pool that we were at the whole time. They kept the water in there warmer than all the other pools so it was very nice.
Our waiters were awesome at dinner too. They brought out finger foods for him every night. They would have gladly pureed vegetables for him too. ?
Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions! ?
