If you had to transport your giant cupcake, come in

So, how did you do it? DS's party is at my IL's this afternoon, and I'm making and icing the cake at my house. It's too tall to fit in any cake carrier, and I have no clue as to how I'm getting it from point A to point B.

Any tips?

  • Oh crap, it doesn't fit in a carrier? Like one of those ones you buy from Michael's in the cake section??? If that's true, then I am also up a creek.

  • Do your ILs live close by?  If you haven't iced it yet, maybe you could ice it when you get there, so it doesn't get all messed up.

But I've never transported a giant cupcake, so that might not be helpful :)

I was actually thinking of doing this. I think I can put the top and bottom in separate Tupperware containers and just put them together there.

thomas - I have one of those standard Tupperware cake carriers that was made for a standard layer cake. If you bought a taller one, it might fit.

  • do you happen to have a xerox box or any other box like that around? ? If you have time you could probably go to bj's/sam's and grab one. I think that would be your best option.?
  • It fit in my cake carrier!  It's pretty tall- like meant for a layer cake.  Can you run out and try to find one?  Mine is by Rubbermaid- called a Servin Saver.  I think I bought it at Garden Ridge but I'm pretty sure I've seen them at Bed Bath and Beyond or Walmart or Target.  I just measured it and it is 12" in diameter and 7" tall.  It was close, but I know it fit... I had to take one to my office one time.

  • I forgot about decorating when I got there (would have been SO much easier) so I had my passenger hold it. We left it on the turntable, so she held it by that, with a few fingers on the cardboard. LOL poor girl. It survived the trip though.
