Who bathes their DC in the regular bath tub?

I bathe my DS in one of those inflatable small tubs you find at BRU (which of course sits in the regular tub). How do you know when they are ready to leave that and just take a bath in the regular tub? The inflatable one I have has a hole in it and I'm thinking of just thowing it out and not bother to get a new one but I'm not sure if he is still too youg. Just curious what others are doing.

  • We have been putting DS in the regular tub since about 9M old.  We wanted to get him to do itsooner than later so he wasn't scared.  Heloves it!

  • My son was in the regular tub at 10 months. He loves taking a bath in the tub he has tons of room to go back and forth and play.  He gets all excited when he hears the water start.

  • We've put DS in the regular bath tub since about 8 months--and he's a peanut:o)  He loves it, and we just fill the water up to his navel or so.  At first, we put down a handtowel in the bottom of the tub to keep him from sliding around, but now he is constantly crawling and pulling up so he never stays in one place anyway.

  • we do! we were also using the inflatable ducky tub but she grew out of it... not size wise but just wanted out. she wasn't thrilled about being in it anymore and wanted to be in the big tub.

    she loves it.

  • With a non-slip bath mat, DD has been in the big tub since 7 months.  She loves it.
  • We started DS when he could sit up.  He loves it.  He also bathes with his big brother.

  • We tossed our duck tub right at a year old since it got a hole in it. He was a little wobby and wild in the big tub for about three days but then he settled in and loves it even more than the duck.

  • My girls have been taking baths in the big tub since they were like 4 mo old lol... first on those yellow foam mats, then in blue bath seats, and just chilling in the tub since they were about 10 mo old and could sit really well. If they try to stand up, I just tell them no and they sit back down. No problems whatsoever.
  • DD has been in the regular bath tub since she could sit up, around 6 months.  She likes it a lot but I just have to be extra careful since it's a little more slippery and she moves around so much.

  • I can't remember why we put him in the big tub but we started about a month ago. He loves it! We just have to remind him not to stand up!?

  • I have since DS was about 10 months old or so. He loves it. He doesn't slip around or anything. But I also make sure that I have everything ready before he gets in so I don't have to turn my back on him for a second.

We started DS in the regular bathtub when he was 3 months old. Prior to that he screamed bloody murder through bath time. He bathes with DH so I think he just started to feel more confident being in daddy's arms. Then he really started loving it, he'd kick and splash and have a great time.

DS started taking more solo baths around 9-10 months. Still loves playing and splashing with all his toys. He's going to start a swim class next month too so hopefully we can keep encouraging this love of water.

  • We started using the regular tub around 13 months. His legs were too long for his little Munckin inflatable duck.

  • My DS has been in the regular tub since about a month after he crawl. ?He loves it.
  • Since she was almost 6 months old.  We went to the beach and didn't want to pack a tube and the kitchen sink was always full with all my family there so we used the bathtub.  DD wouldn't take a bath not in the tub after that.

Now we say "Rosa do you want to take a bath?" and She squees and runs towards the bathroom.  I am pretty sure if she could take off more than her pants she would be nakie by the time she got there.

  • DS has been in the regular tub since about 10 months.  We have non-slip stick ons in the bottom of the tub and he does fine.

We put her in the regular bath tub after the cats punctured two ducky tubs.  I think she was about 7 or 8 months old.  We were a little worried because she liked to lounge in the duck tub and we didn't think she'd be ready to sit up striaght the whole time.  But she did great.  She seemed to understand what she needed to do.

I just started putting DD in the big tub about 2 weeks ago. She loves it because she has room to scoot around.

  • DD has been in the regular tub since around 6 months. However, I also know someone who still bathes her 22 month old in the infant tub.

  • Actually we switched to the regular tub when he was 6 mos old.  We were in FL and had to do something.  My mom put a hand towel in the bottom of the tub and put in about an inch or so of water and laid him down.  He LOVED it!  Kicked and splashed- it was actually way easier than the duck tub so that's when we switched.

We've been bathing our girls in the regular tub ever since they could sit up unassisted, around 6 months.  Never had a problem.

DD is small and we went straight from the infant tub to the regular tub at 6 months with no problems.

He's been in a regular tub since about 7 or 8 months - when he could sit very well on his own. We got a rubber mat that covers the entire floor of the tub so that he can't slip around. He loves it.
  • We still use our kitchen sink!  He loves the big tub, but the sink is SO much easier for us.  Especially now that I'm pg, the tub is really hard for me to use.  I think we'll keep using our sink until he's too big for it.
