I am doing the trial run of Madi's birthday cake recipe and so far so good. (you can't go wrong with a chocolate cake recipe form the hershey's cookbook).
My question is do any of you have a simple icing recipe that will withstand the summer heat? Also I am making her a ladybug smash cake and then little bug cupcakes for everyone else, so the icing has to be dyeable as well.
Thanks ladies!!?
Re: Question for bakers - icing recipe required
I'm using this recipe for buttercream icing (sorry no clicky - Firefox):
https://www.wilton.com/recipe/Buttercream-Icing
I've heard that it's the best icing for decorating and coloring. Good luck!
1 c shortening
1 c margarine
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 lbs confectioners sugar
Cream shortening, margarine and vanilla. Slowly add in sugar. If its too thick to spread easily, you can add a little milk.
