My dad had surgery today to remove a lump or something from his lung, and then do something else (not completely sure what all was supposed to be done) But anyway, they come back to my mom and I after a fairly short period of time and tell us that they didn't complete the 2nd part of the surgery, they did the lung thing and the spot came back cancerous.
I don't even know what to do w/ this info. More than likely it's lung cancer, could be lymphoma. He isn't a smoker....he's only 48yrs old. Results are supposed to come back from pathology on Tuesday. Then on Thursday, it's off to the cancer docs to decide the next course of action.
I know it can be treated, probably. But...it's my dad. This isn't supposed to happen to my dad. I know that's not a logical thought to have, it can happen to anyone...but, I don't know.
I just needed to get that out there. Thanks for listening.
Re: My dad has cancer
I'm so sorry! It sounds like they found it early though!

I am so sorry girl. Your family will be in my prayers.
You take my ovaries, I take your yarns.
I'm sorry. I hope that his treatment goes well.
It's never easy, though. My mom had colon cancer 10 years ago, and that was hard. She's fine now, though!

I am so sorry. My heart goes out to you and your family. I will keep my thoughts and prayers with your dad and family. I hope they caught it early and that he becomes a cancer survivor.
I know exactly what you mean when you say it "isn't supposed to happen to my dad". It did happen to my dad and I felt the same way. My dad was 50 when he was diagnosed.
Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry. I'm going through the same thing with one of my best friends, and I said the EXACT same thing last night: cancer happens to OTHER people!
Sending vibes that it's easily curable!!!!!

your family is in my prayers.?
I was going to say the same thing you already said, when my Dad got leukemia I couldn't believe it. Not my Dad, he's invincible, he's going to be here forever! Well, at least until he's old. His Dad lived until 93!!
I really hope they got it early and he has a quick recovery! good luck to you and your family!

I am so sorry, MOA!
::hugs::
I am so sorry about your dad.
I know exactly how you feel because I said the same thing when my mom was told she had breast cancer in Sept. 2007.
