If your LO has had an ear infection

Has s/he always gotten a fever with it? DS didnt have a fever with his last one but he is so unbelievably cranky. I don't know if it's teeth or what. I want to cry right along with him.

Re: If your LO has had an ear infection

  • DS never had a fever but his ear infection was accompanied by RSV. We caught it early (the ear infection) but the rest was miserable.

Is your DS on anything for it?

    Hang in there!

  • Yes, out of 7 ear infections, he has had a fever with 3 of them.  He is currently running a pretty good fever caused by his current ear infection.

  • he doesnt have a fever but I'm nursing him right now and he keeps stopping t let out a scream every few minutes. Of course its now 430p on a Fri night so my only option is urgent care.

  • I'm going through ear infection hell right now.  I actually had to take DD back to the pedi again today b/c one of her ears was draining, and we were thinking her drum ruptured.  Fortunately, it didn't rupture, but I had to get yet another prescription for drops this time to help alleviate some of the pain deep in her ear.  I've spent more on scripts this month than I have on groceries.

Anyway, to answer your question, nope, she's never had a fever with the infection.  In fact, I had no idea she even had an infection.  I took her to the pedi b/c she has a very wet cough, and when they looked in her ear w/ the scope, they found out she has a double ear infection.  She's so chill as a baby that I really had no idea.

However, my chill baby is now a terror.  I guess the infection is working itself out b/c she's been very grumpy the past few days.

  • One of the things my FIL pointed out is that often times if you feel behind both ears the one that is infected will feel warmer fever or not. GL!

I should mention that he is a nurse and works in the ER. Not just pulling this out of his behind.

I was just told that DS has a double ear infection.  We were at a well visit and he hasn't had any overt symptoms.  I guess he has been a bit cranky but it didn't strike me as anything out of the ordinary.
