DH is starting law school in Baltimore in August and we are thinking about making a road trip out of it. We live in Seattle, so it will be a serious 10-12 day drive with a 1 year old. Is this totally crazy? Has anyone done this before?
Not quite that bad, but we did drive from extreme southern GA to Chicago. It went OK. We had a few new toys and lots of snacks and stuff. I think we stopped for 15 min ever 2 hours or so while DD was awake.
We're planning a drive from FL to NY this summer - DS will be around 10 months. I have no advice as I'm scared myself! Just wanted to wish you good luck!

We're driving from Massachusetts to Texas next month. I'm looking for ideas and tips too.
I'm hoping to bring books and new toys that she's never seen before, and kids' music. I think we will try to plan a couple of lengthy stops each day - let her get out, walk around, etc. Someone over on the 12-24 board also suggested taking meals in restaurants whenever possible, just for an excuse to take a break and give DC a change of scenery for a while.
I think you are giving yourselves plenty of time so it won't feel overwhelming and it will be a lot of fun. ?
I don't have much in the way of advice, but DH and I will be driving from Kansas to San Diego in December so I've been thinking about this, too. We are going to *try* to coordinate our driving with her napping and wear her out at parks along the way (we'll only have about 3-4 days).?
I highly recommend a book called "The Next Exit". ?It's actually written for RV'ers, but it lists EVERYTHING that is on every interstate exit: restaurants, malls, Wal Marts, hotels, hospitals, car dealerships, attractions rest areas. ?It makes travel so much easier for us since we can look ahead. ?If we need free WIFI, we just look in the book for a Panera Bread. ?I also recommend that YOU be in charge of the book, so when you're reading off places to eat, you can just skip over places you don't like. ?Ha!?
I'm sure it's definitely possible but you'll probably be having to stop a lot more than usual to get out and stretch and come prepared with, as pp said, snacks and toys. One of you may want to sit in the back with her to keep her company.
I'm in Baltimore and want to say Welcome! (well..almost!) Will you be living in the city, I'm assuming he'll go to UB, am I right?
Thank you for the welcome! She is a she, so don't worry about it. He will be going to University of Maryland-Baltimore. His parents and brother and sister live there and we will be living with them for at least the first year (kind of nervous!), they live in Fallston, so he will be taking the light rail into the city every morning. We have never lived anywhere besides Seattle, so we are both freaking about the change of scenery.
I'm not 100% where Fallston is but I will tell you the city is a beautiful piece of scenery! Sometimes change is good, so I hope you're happy with the move and location! It'll take a bit to get used to I'm sure...
Good luck with the move and perhaps some day we can get together! My DS will be 1 in July!
