If you had a c/s

Do you do anything special to take care of your scar?  Mine has been itching more than usual lately so I have been trying to put more lotion on it.  Is there anything more I should do to help continue the healing?

  • I don't do anything special.  Sometimes it itches more than others and I just put some lotion on it.  It's almost completely faded and you can hardly see it.  Now, if only the right half of my abdomen wasn't still numb!
  • I've never done anything special - maybe you could use lotion on it to help with the itchyness.

  • The itching means it's healing :o)  Mine itches a lot too.  I don't do anything with it at all, except for wash it, and lotion it when I get out of the shower.
  • i don't do anything to it anymore and haven't ever really past the 6 or 8 week checkup.

    maybe vitamin e?

I've found mine will go through stages where it itches for awhile, then goes back to normal.  That, and the itchiness is INSIDE, so I can't even scratch it.  Ugh.  Like Blondie said, healing will do that.

Otherwise I have some Mederma I used early on, and will probably use again, but that's only good for appearance, won't stop the itching!

  • it doesn't itch much anymore. after my 1st c/s, it did itch a lot though. I believe I used calomine lotion which can be a little messy, but it works.
