Creative Father's Day Gifts????

Hey ladies. I'm trying to figure out what to get DH for Father's Day this year a bit in advance since the week before we area heading to DC so that he can start some intensive chemo since he has stage IV lymphoma. I'm getting him a gift from me and one from DS. I want the gift from DS to be special for his daddy. I was thinking maybe a digital frame so that we can easily pack it with us to take it when he's at the hospital for his treatments and then he could put it on his desk at work once he's able to return back to the office. But I don't know, that's something that I'd like myself but it doesn't mean he'd like it. We took some professional family photos about a week ago so that we could have nice photos of the three of us before he undergoes treatment. So I could load those photos in the frame.

So I posted this to see if maybe you guys had more creative ideas.

 Thanks!

  • Wow, that's rough. ?It must be really hard on both of you.?

I'm making DH a board book to read to DD from this website:

    https://mycustomstory.com/shop/

The book will be titled "Daddy & Evie" and have pictures of the two of them with a story about how they're alike and what they have fun doing together.?

I'm really sorry to hear about what he's going to have to go through.  I think you might be surprised how comforting something like a digital frame would be for him.  I think maybe he would like nothing more than to see pictures of his beautiful family to give him strength.  I think it's a great gift idea!

I think thats a great idea. What about something to keep his mind off the treatments as well. A good book maybe? Does he read? Does he have hobbies? I do like the digital frame though.

I hope his treatments go well.

  • (((HUGS)))  DH had Stage 3 Hodgkins Lymphoma when I was pregnant with DD.  I remember how hard those months of chemo were.  I wish you and your family all the best.

As for the gift, I think the digital frame is a great idea. I bet seeing the pictures during chemo would help him.

Another thing my DH always liked to have was movies.  The hospital he was at had free movies for chemo patients, but if yours doesn't, a portable dvd player and/or his favorite movies (maybe even a subscription to netflixs) might help pass the hours during treatment.

If you ever want to talk, please feel free to PM me.  I hope your DH recieves a clean bill of health soon.  (((HUGS)))

I make a Shutterfly book for my DH every year and include pics of him and my girls from the Fatehr's Day before through the year.  He loves them and knows that when the girls are older - it will be even better as he will have a small book of every year of life with his girls.  My older DD was born the Friday before Father's Day so its extra special as he had a very hard 1st Father's Day since DD was very ill and in the NICU and we can now look back at the great Father's Day's we have had since.  I always get him something in addition to the book as well - a NetFlix gifrt card or Best Buy card and breakfast in bed or sleeping in while the girls and I make breakfast.

This.  I was just about to suggest it.  They are much smaller than I pictured when I ordered it (4x5 in.) but I got one for DH last year.  I wrote my own little poem with pictures of DS or DH+DS to match each line of the poem.  If you want to see how it turned out, I still have the proof so just email me at MamaJan0208 at gmail dot com.

So sorry you are having to go through this.  Will be thinking about you!

  • I think you are onto something with the digital frame idea.  The first year DS could say Happy Fathers Day I did that and had him say, "Happy Fathers Day, I love you!  It was so cute and he will forever have a recording of the first year his son could say that!  Or until the frame breaks!  He brought it to his office and it is on his desk and he cheerishes it!

Also, snapfish.com is having a collage sale.  Any gift with a collage is 50% off so some really good deals.

I hope I can be as proactive as you this year!

Sorry to hear about your husband.
