of course it's mostly adults coming, but i do have about 10 kids or maybe more. what was easier for you? anyone taste walmart or target's cake or cupcakes?
I made really cutesie cupcakes myself and NO ONE ate them, which is why I didn't buy a cake because no one ever eats that either. At least they were a really cute centerpiece! : )
I made a small (elmo) cake, but then made cupcakes for the little ones...it was easy, less mess, and portable (I always find that people will take cupcakes rather than a slice of cake).
I've never had walmart or target cupcakes, sorry. You could pick up a box of cake mix though and it'll make ~18-24 cupcakes...
I made cupcakes, and ordered a small cake for 10 from the bakery. It was the perfect combo for our party! The cake was pretty and we used it for singing happy birthday and cake cutting. However, the cupcakes were less messy and easy for me to distribute to guests.
We had about 40 adults and 10 kids at our party. The cake was finished completely, and we had a few cupcakes left over.
I did both. 1/2 sheet cake (yellow batter), 1 dozen chocolate cupcakes and 6 vanilla. It was super easy to give the kids cupcakes as they started to crowd and cling, "here you go" and they were on their way-leaving me with my sanity-the adults mostly waited for the cake to be cut-unless of course they preferred chocolate. Never had a Walmart or Target cake/cupcake
I made cake, cookies & brownies. That went over really really well. The cake I made turned out really yummy, so I barely had any left. All the cookies & brownies where eaten.
My vote is for cupcakes. That is what we did and it worked out great. DD got a cupcake all to herself. My fam isn't huge cake eaters so a huge cake would have gone to waste but the cupcakes were pefect. We did have a few left over and I took them to her daycare the next day.
I did filled cupcakes. They were a big hit. I did yellow and chocolate cupcakes and used a piping bag with a long tip to fill them with raspberry buttercream. Then I frosted them with plain butter cream. They were delicious.
