1. DS is on soy formula right now. When he starts drinking milk should I put him on soy milk? Anyone have any experience with this? Or should I keep him on soy formula for a little bit longer than a year?
2. When is it okay to take baby on a boat? My DH is dying to take DS out on our boat this summer but I'm not too excited about that idea. Your thoughts?
3. What about swim lessons? When can we begin those?
Ok, that should keep me busy until I decide to start working!
Re: A few Q's before I get to work...
1. Darby was on soy formula when he was littler. We transitioned him to milk formula around 9 months old - slowly started mixing the two. He didn't show any signs of intolerance of milk anymore. And now he's completely on whole milk. I guess it depends on your reason for using soy formula. Diagnosed milk allergy? Infant intolerance?
2. Here is my personal rule for taking a baby on a boat. If there is a life jacket that fits him - he can go on a boat. He's over 6 months old so you can use sunscreen on him. I think you're good to go.
3. My community ed starts swim lessons at 6 months. You just have to look into swim classes to see.
HTH.
1. Not sure about the soy milk thing, never had that issue
2. Depends on the boat and the situation. Sailboat? Probably not a good idea since sailboats are generally cramped and often tip and would be difficult to manuever a baby on. Motor boat or plantoon boat? Probably would be fine nestled in someones lap w/ a life jacket on.
3. Babies don't need swim lessons. The only thing the swim instructor does is do "exersizes" in the water to make your baby more comfortable with the splashing and temperature. You can do that on your own in a lake or community pool.
