Joining you ladies in August! And worried about daycare waiting list...

After 14 months at home, I'll be going back to work in August!  I'm excited.  BUT, nervous about my daycare situation.  DD has been going to a Parent's Day Out the past 9 months and I put her on the waiting list for their full time daycare in January.  She has a little bit of priority because she was in this school's PDO, but I have contacted the full time daycare director twice to see where DD is on the wait list and she has not responded.  I am starting to get anxious - I thought I had started these arrangements with plenty of time, but now I'm worried.  My back-up is a home daycare that a friend of mine's DS went to last year.  I'm not thrilled about it, but at least I have something else in the wings if our 1st choice doesn't pan out.  Just a vent!

  • I would stop by the office the next time you drop her off for PDO.  If that's where you want to go bug them until they respond. GL!

  • We were in a little bit different situation, (on two daycare waiting lists, no prior relationship with either one) but I know one thing they were waiting on before determining what spaces they had available was which / if kids would be moving up to the next classroom.  We didn't find out we had a spot until last minute (like a month and a half before I went back) but it was because they had to assess their arrangements.

It's annoying that the director hasn't responded to you, but I found this to be the case at more than one center we looked at.
