NBR: Money Orders???

I have a wipes warmer on CL for $10 - some guy offered $15 if I would ship it and offered to get me a money order for it.

does this sound legit?  I offered pay pal but he doesn't have an account.

I mean, he's not asking me to send him the thing and then the money order, I am selling the item, he lives a few hours away so it makes sense.

 What do you think?

Re: NBR: Money Orders???

  • I wouldn't think so, it sounds like the big scheme that had been going around ebay.  Where they say they will pay you more if you ship it, then they send you money then after you ship you find out the money is no good.

I have gotten screwed before so I am very leary of any claims like this, its free to sign up for pay pal, they should do it if thats what you request.

I'd be wary of it too.  You could always say that you will ship it once you've received the money order, that way you won't be out anything if he doesn't sent the money.

  • he's offering to send it and then have me ship it.
  • I'd only send the item AFTER the money order has completely cleared the bank system. Heck...I'd rather have a personal check. I think MO's are riskier.
  • DO NOT DO IT.  Money orders are really easy to scam people with. That's why a lot of sellers won't take them anymore.

I'd tell him he can send concealed cash or open a Paypal account (though of course there are still no guarantees with that either.)

  • I wouldn't do it, I think they even advise against dealing w/people who use money orders.
  • SCAM!  Don't do it!
