Need your opinion on 1st birthday party locale

I'm thinking of having Sophia's first birthday party at a local park in a rented pavilion.  The pavilon has a play area with swings, sliding board, etc. right beside it.  A few family members have voiced concern that it may be too hot for an outside party at the end of July.  I wanted to have it not at our home because we just got new carpet, our dogs can be annoying AND we have no play stuff for the older kids that will be there.  I am a bit concerned also about it being too hot.  We have central air in our house.

WWYD?  I'm so indecisive right now.

BTW, the pavilion rental is $65 for the day and I would have the party start at 1 pm.

  • Sounds like a fun location. ?Is there any way you could have the party earlier in the day (say at 10:30 or so)? ?That way it will be cooler, plus you're not hitting kids in the middle of naptime.

  • You could probably get away with it. Have you thought about having it a little earlier so you're not in the heat of the day for very long??

If not, I think it would be fine.?

  • I don't think PA is that hot in July!  I think that is a great location for a birthday party!  Plus the pavilion will provide some shade and kids do not feel the heat like we do anyway.  I agree with the PP - maybe make it earlier and have plenty of water!
  • I think you'd be fine, but would it still work out if it rained?

Also, I don't know if you planned on giving favors to the kids, but maybe you could give those little hand-held fans out?
