sitting?

ds is almost six months. he rolls all ways, babbles, army crawls, etc.

he will not sit. i plop him down to sit and he struggles until he's on the floor. he hates the bumbo.  i'll put him in the boppy and same thing.  anyone else's lo hate sitting?

Sounds to me like he's doing great! DD isn't crawling yet, and she's 7 months. She can't sit on her own for more than a few seconds, but if I put a big toy in front of her that she can hold onto for balance she lasts longer. Maybe if you put something really interesting right in front of him he'll tolerate it better? I wouldn't worry about it though, he'll do it when he's ready.

Well, Leo has been sitting like a champ since 4 months, but other than one lame attempt at army crawling, he shows no signs of being close to crawling. Point being, they all have their strengths. And FWIW, I'd rather get the crawling than the sitting, since even when they can sit well, if they are tired or whatever they can easily faceplant or fall backwards so its not like you can let them sit unattended anyway. Don't stress about the sitting- its overrated!

Kiran likes to sit supported...I'll put him in the vee of my legs and he'll list back and forth and sometimes flop forwards, but he seems to enjoy it.  He doesn't like the Bumbo, though.  I think sitting up next to my body is still "cuddling" for him which is why he likes it, but hopefully he's still developing those sitting muscles.  I think the expected range for sitting is 5 - 8 months, so he has a while!  In my mom's culture they have a "sitting ceremony" for babies and it's always in the 7th month...and even so I've seen some floppy babies take part!  (They sit on this little platform surrounded by flowers and sweets, and there's a lot of times I've seen the mom holding them up and then yanking her hand away momentarily for a picture and then grabbing them back real quick before they face-plant!)

Ben is almost 7 months and he hates it and can't do it, we just started PT this past week bc of it to help him along some.
