I take him out of his carseat and lay him on his playmat and that usually keeps him entertained and out of trouble.

If she is sleeping I just take her carseat inside and leave her in it while I unload. If she's not I'll normally put her in her johnny jump up or bouncy seat. Normally she'll entertain herself by watching the dogs go crazy because we just got home. : )
I usually bring DS into the house first, putting him in the bouncy seat in the kitchen (our garage is right off the kitchen), then bring all the bags into the house. He sits and watches me while I put groceries away...although I make sure to put away perishables first so that if he gets fussy, I can leave out what's left and take care of him.
This is my main problem with grocery shopping since I live on the second floor of an apartment building. Usually I take DS upstairs first with as much of the frozen/cold stuff that I can carry. Then I leave DS in the apartment with the cats and run back and forth nervously from the car to the apartment with the rest of the stuff. If he is fussy then I leave the rest until DH gets home. I am going to try out my carrier next time I go though because I thinkthat might be easier to have him with me, easier on my nervous system.
If the girls are asleep, I keep them in the car if it isn't too hot/cold (I park in the garage and shut the door) and unload the groceries.
If the girls are awake, I unload them and put them in their bouncy chairs in the living room. My garage door opens right to the kitchen/living room area.
LO is usually sleeping from the car ride so I unload him in his car seat and put him in the house, then unload the car.
this!
however, I usually tackle the big 1-2 week grocery trips on saturday or sunday so H can SAH with her. I can't stand not being able to put away the groceries or having to just cram stuff in the fridge. i guess i am OCD.
If DD is asleep, I bring her in in her carseat and leave her there until she wakes up. If she's awake, I bring her in and put her in her bouncer on the kitchen floor while I bring in the groceries and put them away. She actually really enjoys watching me put them away.
I keep Baby J in his car seat if he is content or I plop him on the ground with his toys. IF he is REALLY cranky I will sit him in front of the tv until I am done. I have only had to do this 1 or 2 times and didnt start this until a month or so ago.

One of two ways.
If the girls are asleep, I keep them in the car if it isn't too hot/cold (I park in the garage and shut the door) and unload the groceries.
If the girls are awake, I unload them and put them in their bouncy chairs in the living room. My garage door opens right to the kitchen/living room area.
