Vacationing in San Diego

Well after a long drive we're finally in our hotel room in San Diego and Lucas is resting....

Does anyone that's been here have any good ideas on what to do the first night here?  I planned the rest of the week but left tonight open and am finding myself ready to go out...

Relax and go for a nice dinner. Relax, with a hectic week ahead of you , you will be glad to just relax. Where in Diego are you staying?

I love La Jolla. Can you go for a stroll on the beach, though with evening hitting, it may be too windy and cold.  There are lots of Museums in the area, but they are a daytime activity. There should be some good parks in the area though.

  • Well La Jolla has good food, you can go down to the beach and see all the seals. If you go South on the 5 then merge onto the 8 east get off at Taylor st, turn right and drive west you get to Old Town. Just take the 5south and you get to dowtown.

Fashion Valley is off the 163/ Friars Rd.

  • Just wanted to say I love La Jolla!

Have a great time on your trip! I don't have any suggestions at the moment, but you could post on tripadvisor to see if anyone local can give you tips. Or ask the concierge I guess.

Of course be sure to check out Children's Beach later in the week!

  • We were just thinking about catching the sunset at a nearby beach.  The Melting Pot is right across the street from our hotel and I have always wanted to try it...Do you think it's ok to go there with LO or is not baby friendly?

Your LO may well sleep through dinner! Just don't sit them on the table (heated top in parts). On a Monday night I doubt they'll be very busy so it should be ok. Sometimes it's kinda slow. I like getting cheese fondue, a salad, chocolate dessert - and skipping the main entree. But that's just me :)

Last time I was in the area seals had taken over Children's Beach, and there was some debate over whether or not they could be chased off, so um, check first.

Otherwise, the polar bear habitat at the zoo is a must, as is dinner in Little Italy.
