Obviously they need to be considered, but do they make or break it? I finally decided on a name that DH and I like, but his initials would be T.A.B. Do you think this is going to be an issue throughout his life? TIA

Re: How important are initials?
TAB isn't that bad, I doubt anyone will notice.
Ditto. I could care less about initials. I don't see why people make such a big deal about them.
ditto...no big deal
I could care less about initials. Especially when inculding the middle initial. When you're initializing important documents, you don't have to use all three...so when would you ever really see all three letters together?
My dad's initials are F.O.G. and no one ever says anything. If anyone ever made an issue, then I think they are reading too much into the name and should find something else to take up their time.
My maiden name initials were L.A.B, which only became funny once I got into college and majored in chemistry.
TAB = no big deal. Unless your kid eventually goes on to work for a major producer of soda cans. Then it would just be ironic.

As long as it doesn't spell a dirty word, no one will notice or care until he's married, and that's only if they decide to plaster initals all over everything.
I didn't realize until DS was almost born that he will be nicknamed TJ later in life... that's how much attention I was paying to initals! : )
My husband's initals are EGO.
so ironic, and funny. I get a good laugh out of it - and I probably won't do it to our son, but really, me and his family are probably the only people that noticed.

Are you okay with this? This would really upset me because I don't love any M names. ?
This
Keep in mind that monograms will normally look like tBa, and it becomes even more of a non-issue.
I think TAB is cute, its nothing offensive and he may even think its cool that his intials spell out something.. I grew up calling my best friend Julie "JAM", she still thinks its funny.
Ditto. I've been in love with the name Evelyn which would make our daughter E.W. and is giving me serious second thoughts. Everyone says "it doesn't matter as long as it's a good middle name" except I disagree. Kids are so mean that I can picture playground taunting like "Ewwwww here comes evelyn!" In my case I think the initials matter but in your case not so much, I can't think of anything related to TAB except the old soda which our kids' generation will likely have never even heard of
