Diaper cake

I am thinking of making one for a friend of mine.  Has anyone made one?  Are they relatively easy? Or is there a good website to buy one?

Re: Diaper cake

  • I found it pretty easy to make. I went on youtube looking for a demo.

  • Make your own!!!  They are super expensive to buy one, and I'm not sure why. They are really easy!!

    Here is what I do:

Buy a large round aluminum or cardboard cake pan (that gives you a nice sturdy base.

Buy diapers (I use between 70-90 diapers, for a 3 tier cake).  Roll each diaper up and secure with a rubber band (or if it is for a girl, use little rubber band hair ties).

Assemble each layer with as many diapers as you want (I start in the center and work my way out....for each row of diapers, I tie them together with string or curling ribbon).  On the outside of each layer, wrap large ribbon around in the color of your choice.

Decorate with all kinds of cute baby items (pacifiers, baby shoes, socks, spoons, etc).  Tie a cute stuffed animal at the top to finish it off!

    GL!!  Hope this helps!

  • I got 2 for my baby shower, and as I was taking it apart I saw how easy it would be to make one for my friend.  There are also Diaper Bears you can make.  Buying one online is way too expensive.  Just do a yahoo search, and there are lots of great ideas.
  • I tried to make one once...but after I bought the supplies, and really gorgeous expensive ribbon, I felt like it was better to give a gift card, cash or something more expensive on the registry. I took everything back and bought a gift.
