    My grandmother and greatgrandmother got me a savings account. I didn't know about it until I was about to go to college, and that had each contributed a little bit to it every year (greatgrandmother before she passed away) It was wonderful, and while it wasn't a lot of money, it helped buy my books!  We plan on doing the same thing for our peanut.
