i want to have baby sooooo bad .... im 38 weeks dialated to about 2.5 and 50% effaced how far dialated have anyothers been when their water broke or how far effaced ? what do you think am i close or just hopefull ?
That's certainly progress. But it doesn't necessarily mean you're close, unfortunately. I've been 2.5 cm and 80% since 38 weeks as well. Not trying to be a debbie-downer (ok, well maybe a bit, lol), it's just that everyone and every baby is different.
Well..think of it this way 1.5 more to be considered in "active labor". Plus, you are far more advanced than me...i'm jealous! Just keep active, you are right there! GL!
Water breaking and dilation are most of the time unrelated. Lots of people including me go in are not dilated at all and water has broke (like now, my cervix is tightly closed) but with DS I got to 6 during induction and then they broke my water because it hadn't yet. So that is just my experience.
I have been 2 cm since week 37 and at that point I was 50% effaced. At my appointment last week I was still 2 cm and 90%. I am still awaiting some other signs of labor besides the strong BH.
I was admitted Thursday night to L&D and found out I was 3 cm and 80% effaced and -1 station and they sent me home. Here it is Sunday and my water hasn't broke, no sign of any mucus plug or bloody show and the contractions have been nothing more than strong BH. So it could be a while...I'm just not allowing myself to get excited. Your water doesn't have to break for you to go into true labor.
It depends. With my second I was 4 cm at 36 weeks. I started dilating at 32 weeks I think. I had her at 37 weeks. This time around I was not dilated at all on Tuesday and my water broke Saturday night at 9 pm and she was here Sunday morning at 3:12.

FWIW I hope you get to see your LO soon!
