I'm scheduled to be induced tomorrow at 36.5 days (ticker is a day behind) at the recommendation of my OB and peri due to placental maturity, swelling, and large babies (both measured 6.7 at 35 weeks). Both doctors told me that they think that they will act like term babies and doubt that they will need NICU time, but I was just looking for some real life experiences...THANKS!

Re: 36 1/2 weekers...
You should be just fine, but remember that every baby is different and some 40 week babies need NICU time. It is hard to know until they are born. Good luck!!

Mine were delivered at 36 weeks 2 days. DS was in the special care nursery for 24 hours simply for monitoring. DD was in the NICU for 4 days where she was being monitored for body temp regulation and her ability to feed. My babies were a bit smaller, 4lb 10 ounces each.
Hope this helps! Good luck to you!

We delivered at exactly 36w5d due to placental deterioration and low fluids. My little ones were small (4lb 8 oz and 5lb 8 oz) and had trouble with temperature regulation. That put them in the NICU in incubators and on feeding tubes because they needed the calories to stay warm.
We were in Special Care for a week exactly, they were in open air cribs after a few days and off the feeding tubes a day after that.
Good luck!

Surprise! due 2/23/17
My girls were born at 35 weeks, 6 days. 2 of them spent 2 days in the Special Care Nursery for observation and then came home with me. Anna would have done the same but she had to have surgery right after she was born on her spine.
There are some 38-40 weekers who have spent time in the NICU so you probably won't know until they are born but chances are, they will be coming home with you. I think it is fairly common for 36-37 weekers to not be the greatest of eaters. My girls acted liked preemies with that - it was a struggle to get them to take a bottle.
No experience, just wanted to say good luck! I'm 36w6d today and I'm SO ready to have these babies! I don't have a scheduled c/s until 38w2d, so I've got 10 more days (at most).
Here's hoping for healthy, happy babies!
My girls were born at 36wks 5 days were both over 6 pounds and did not need any NICU time. Good luck to you.
I was induced with my boys at 36 weeks 2 days due to high blood pressure. They were 4 lbs 6 oz and 5 lbs 9 oz. My smaller boy was required to stay in the NICU for 24 hours for observation due to his weight. The bigger one came directly to my room. Both boys were discharged with me two days later. Good Luck!
