Parenting after a Loss

DD's virus has destroyed her sleep routine

This sucks big time.  We had such a fantastic sleeper until this mess came along.  Even though she only took 40 minute naps, I could put her down awake and she'd just talk and play until she fell asleep.  We worked so hard to get through the sleep training and get her to this point and now it's all gone to crap.

I guess we start over.  Only now we're dealing with a completely different baby so it's a different ball game.

I could cry I'm so tired and flat out beat.

  • i'm sorry.  big hugs.  i hope it gets easier.

  • Lots of babies have to start over after they've been sick. It's totally normal.

I wouldn't try sleep training again until she's feeling 100%. That's what we're waiting for because it would just compound the problem.

  • Good thinking, valkaz.  We're still having to go in a lot to make sure she's OK, hasn't made a mess in her diaper or thrown up, and she has lots of gas pains, so she needs held and soothed.  No sense in trying anything now.

I would do anything to clone DH or myself so we could go away for a night and get a GOOD night of sleep, knowing that Lilly is being taken care of by someone who knows what's going on.

  • I'm sorry. Big hugs to you. DD had a stomach bug like that when she was about 4 months old. It seemed to last FOREVER. But when it finally went away she was back to her old self. I hope Lilly feels all better really soon.

ooo, i remember this now!  it's good to know she may fall back into her routine.

You're preaching to the choir here. ;) DD will be 13 mths tomorrow and I haven't had more than 3-4 hours of straight sleep since before she was born.
