3rd Trimester

Anyone Have A Transverse Baby?

If they haven't moved, did you or will you schedule a c-section or just wait and see what happens at the time of delivery?

I know it is still early ( I am close to 29 weeks) and she could move at any time, but I had my daughter at 36 weeks and delivered her breech ( didn't know she was breech)..........so I  guess I am just nervous that this baby won't turn in time......whenever she decides to come :)

Re: Anyone Have A Transverse Baby?

  • Um OUCH!  There is no doc around here that does breech deliveries anymore...  Right now, she's head down but if it changes for some reason, then unfortunately, it will be a c-section.

  • Well, the idiot of a nurse said she thought she was head down, and she was wrong! So, I started pushing and they realized she was breech and luckily the on call doctor was able to pull her out safely.
  • You are early and she has plenty to time to move.  Mine is now head down ready to go and I am trying to keep it in!
  • He was transverse at 30 weeks, but has turned head down.  Not sure how long he will stay that way.  If not, I would hope to try for an external version, then c-section if that didn't work.
  • I have a transverse baby & he's been that way forever. My OB went ahead & scheduled a C this week - I didn't want to do the version.

Most likely your LO will turn, but according to my OB, transverse is a rare position for baby to be in past 35 -36 weeks. I read somewhere they are more likely to flip to breech than head down too.

I doubt they'd let you go into labor. There are higher risks w/ transverse babies than breech - uterine rupture is one, & the rate of umbilical cord prolapse is higher too. My OB scheduled my C section for the beginning of my 39th week.
