3rd Trimester

I know I can't do it now, but

how soon after delivery can I get piercings? Would BFing factor into the decision?

Re: I know I can't do it now, but

  • That is a good question... I will be getting another tattoo somewhere to commemorate my new LO but I will probably wait a year 1/2 or so...

    That's what I was thinking

  • You cannot get piercings or tattoos while breastfeeding, or pg. The risk of infection is too high.

Just the ears. DH got me a gorgeous pair of diamond studs and I want to be able to wear them every day, but still have versatility with other stuff.

There's really no rush, I was just wondering.

  • Ask your doctor.  Ear piercing might not be so bad down the road but anywhere else....probably not a good idea for awhile!

Oh good... I was hoping it wasn't your nips b/c who in the world would do that while BFing? anyway... you're not supposed to get piercings or tattoos while BFing, but ask your doctor b/c he/she might say ear piercing from a reputable place (NOT Claire's or the mall) would be fine. They might even do it at the doctors office for you.

Ditto this.  This makes a lot more sense.  I just couldn't fathom thinking about getting my nips pierced right after giving birth!

Unless the doctor is using a needle, though, there's really no difference - and from what I've heard, doctors that do this often use piercing guns. You'd think they'd know better.

Oh no, definitely NOT the nips! I'll ask my doc what he thinks. Thanks girls!
